 Post subject: Lag?

Hey Slot,

I've been popping in every now and then and noticed some lag issues.. I can't seem to pin it to anything specific.. But seemed similar to a faulty rune from what I experienced before on DeadZone. I start off really good.... the game gets kicking and it seems tighter and tighter to move around. I don't know how to explain it further as I'm not seeing anything unusual other then alot of runes we don't use on Deadzone. At first it was server lag as everyone was getting it at the same time.. Now it doesn't seem to be that?

Although I've experienced this phenomenon (sluggish movement over time) on other servers, I don't recall seeing this at Shmack, at least not recently. Since it happens over time and on an individual basis, I've always chalked it up to a client problem.

My current pet theory is that it's an over heating hardware issue although exiting and returning to Quake immediately seems to help. I notice it occurring more often when the ambient temperature is hot.

My other theory is that it's poor memory management although this is unlikely.

It would happen on other servers I join as well.. Doesn't.. and only happens where there is alot of rune activity. Yet hard to tell when runes are picked up.. used.. dropped.. pick another used drop. Too hard to find which ones. :( Not that I don't like that feature.. Love it.. Just hard to debug!!!
