Is there certain characters the server will not allow you to use ? I used a new name and it wouldn't allow me in the server or it kicked me.

I added these entries to my Qsmack:

unmodified Stooge bot: ban_name ^SBot\x1c
newline or CR in name: ban_name [\r\n]
blank-looking name: ban_name ^[\x0a\x0c\x0d\x20\x22\x8a\x8c]+$

Does the name have a newline character in it (whatever that is)?

Here's what characters I made for the new name.


_cl_name "ÿßSluôôù"



Actually -- Not ony I just noticed that it doesn't allow me in any server, it won't even allow me to play single player using these characters. Why is this ?

This is true, I tried the name. When I tried it on servers and it either kicked me when I was already connected or didn't let me connect.

If the first character a newline? I don't recall ever seeing that character used in a Quake name.

I just tried to connect to SINGED and saw the message 'Kicked By Console'. I was quite perplexed until I remembered that I exec that dumb name to view it . :shock:

that name will work fine, without a problem..

EDITED
 <- white arrow
ÿ <- brown arrow

the brown arrow your trying to use is the problem , might I suggest using the white arrow instead and everything will be a - okay.

WTF would someone want to use a name like that though? That's fine if he doesn't want anyone to chat with him. Who in the hell wants to type all that garbledeegook every time you want to talk to him??????

And what the hell is that suppose to mean anyway??
