Post subject:  Server Bots

My old server bots no longer work on RuneQuake v1.1 I am thinking something changed with the server, couse I havn't messed with any of the bot settings. I wanted to add a couple of AI~Bots to play against while waiting for human players.

Could you be more specific with your problem? (What kind of bots? What type of problem?)

When I get home tonight I will look at what I got. They are some Bots that Ben set up for me a long time ago. They ran on the old RuneQuake just fine.

Ok, I am using Quakebot. I run a BAT file with the following in it...

Code:
@echo off
quakebot.exe 66.43.172.60:26000 -auto -name AI~BOT-1 -color 4 4

This is what I get from the bot...

Code:
Now at WP team=4 wp=14
   Going to WP team=4 wp=13 with stepsize=17.6
      WayStuck=0, WayHopeless=0, HereAgain=1, ThereAgain=0
   I'm after a Goodie!
Danger: RandMoveCount stopped

Now at WP team=4 wp=14
   Going to WP team=4 wp=13 with stepsize=17.6
      WayStuck=0, WayHopeless=0, HereAgain=2, ThereAgain=0
   I'm after a Goodie!
Danger: RandMoveCount stopped

Now at WP team=4 wp=14
   Going to WP team=4 wp=13 with stepsize=17.6
      WayStuck=0, WayHopeless=0, HereAgain=3, ThereAgain=0
   I'm after a Goodie!
Danger: RandMoveCount stopped

They look like they are on the server, but they are not.[/quote][/code]

Remove the -qsmack <ip> from your command line and restart the server. See if they work then.

Nope. Same thing.

I'm not familiar with the server bot you're using and other than it being confused for a QSmack client (removing the -qsmack would have fixed this), I can't think of anything that would cause the problem.

Diazoild might be able to help. I think he runs a server bot on occasion and he uses 1.1 too.

I might also recommend you download/revert to a version of Rune Quake that you know works with your bot and see if the problem doesn't still exist. If it does work, this will narrow it down to being a 1.1 problem and not a setting problem with the bot.

Maybe it's something simple like just putting them in the game since all players start out as observer.

It works fine with RuneQuake 0.5.3 Plus 0.5

I think your right about the bots may be getting hung at the start menu.

The bat file I'm using looks identical.

Code:
@echo off
quakebot.exe 64.202.114.222:26000 -auto -name QUakeMarine -color 2 6

Are you going into the game and forcing them to play via the admin menu? That is how I get them to join.

Edit: Doh ... I just reread the posts. These bots have never automatically joined the game as far as I know. The solution is to just force them in the game as you guys mentioned.

Does the bot launch an autoexec.cfg? If so, just put this line inside:

alias init "impulse 2"

This will create an alias called "init" which is called after all the server bindings are sent. It puts you in the game automatically.

I can't seem to find away to get the bots to use that impulse. Is there away I can send a command from the server's dos window to tell the bots to join? Without having to join the server itself?

P.S. Also the vote option is no good with BOTs without their voters cards!
