I've setup a GoGetFunding project to help fund the Quake servers for the following year. If you enjoy playing on the Quake servers and don't want to see them go, please consider making a donation. If the project is successful I will be upgrading the server to a much faster machine that is also much cheaper than the previous years. Here is the link to the project page:

Thanks in advance to all who donate,

Heya Slot, I heard that the fundraiser was "on"...BUT, only because Sprax came on tonight and let everyone know. You should consider adding a message/ web url upon joining the server.

The project doesn't end until November, and can be over-funded which is helpful because GoGetFunding gets its share and paypal takes a cut as well so in the end I actually wind up getting about 7% less then the stated amount. I couldn't find a site that doesn't charge a fee for each donation. I used to use Chip-In but it looks like they've closed up shop.

Can't you just use PayPal to receive donations? I know there's nothing with PayPal to say "if you don't get X amount, return funds" but lets be honest, you'll get the full amount. Plus you only have PayPal's cut to deal with and not the funding site as well.

Yes, I can avoid the 4% fee from GoGetFunding if it's sent directly to my Paypal , however, there's no automatic widget to let everyone know the progress which I think is especially useful for those considering.

The 2014 Server Donation has been complete for some time now. Thanks to all those who donated! I finalized the move the new server on Monday, Oct 20. If you notice anything malfunctioning, like various parts of the website or related, please let me know.
