I've setup a GoGetFunding project to help fund the Quake servers for the following year (2016). If you enjoy playing on the Quake servers and don't want to see them go, please consider making a donation. The server is now running 2X Intel Xeon processor (8 cores) w/ 32 GB RAM and we're yet again on a new host. We've actually used this host before like 8 years ago or so with great results but you guys be the judge. Here is the link to the project page:

Thanks in advance to all who donate,

Slot,

Can you post a message on the server which people would see when they join a game?

So what happens if the gofundme fails to meet its goal? Back to plan A?

It was suggested to me that that rather than call it quits, I should ask the community for help financially. I was overwhelmed at the response and support to keep the server alive. If the goal is met, we will be community funded for the 5th year in row. I have not made a decision as to what would happen if we do not meet our goal. We'll cross that bridge if we get to it.

I donated $30 but got a message from Paypal:

Your payment can't be completed. Please return to the participating website and try again.

But looks like it went through as my balance changed. Let me know if it didn't work and I'll escalate through Paypal. Thanks!

Hey Slot,
I donated 50 bucks, but like Killa I got this message as follows, Your payment can't be completed. Please return to the participating website and try again.
Stupid me though as I did it twice before I read Killa's comment....did mine go through as well (twice)?

Thanks in advance,
EzJacK

Hi EZ, don't see any donations for $50. (Except for Quake-Nekkid) So doesn't look like it went through. Check your paypal to be sure. I'll keep a look out though, just in case and refund if so.

Fully funded with 14 days to go. Damn, Slot, do you remember years ago when you first tried to shut it down and you though no one would care? I might not be around anymore, but I'm happy to see this server live on.

Cheers,

Sprax

I do sprax. I was shocked then and shocked now. It's great to see a community pull together.
