I was going to make a demo when I was playing on a server and I got the message "Already Connected to a Server". If I recall correctly, regular Quake.Exe and standard WinQuake and standard GLQuake don't have the ability to spontaneously record demos when already connected to a server.
Some Quake clients allow one to record a demo after already connected to a multiplayer server. It would be cool if JoeQuake could do that, especially since JoeQuake is strong in demo features.
Also, something else to consider is to cause demo recording to terminate at the end of a map or level. I believe there is a Quake bug where if a demo extends to multiple maps, you just get a black screen after the first map.
