 Post subject: Linux: Joequake exits unexpected, beginning of map e2m2

Hello!

I get a very odd problem, when running through e2m2. It seems that, if i rush through the doors into the castle-like building, and take one of the boxes of ammo, my game exits. I hope my explaination is at least a bit understandable..

Anyway, im running with 0.15Dev, on a Linux machine, and has no problems otherwise, it's just this one little thing. The strange thing is, that if i wait a moment, and then take the ammobox, the game doesn't hang.

The only output i get from the game when this occours is as follows:

[02]the Ogre Citadel
KalasMannn entered the game
Playing on Easy skill
Received signal 11, exiting...


Has onyone else had this problem?

That happened to me when I used sqpro on rage.quakeone.com. I'd press CTRL as an observer and get Signal 7 and then the whole program goes FIDDLE FADDLE FOO! really ugly.

is this single player or on a server?

This sounds like the famous e2m2 Easy skill engine bug; shoot the left button and drop down inside the opened castle door. Many engines have this bug and it can also be seen e.g. running reapers on some maps. Either the engine crashes or hangs with looping sounds.

My engines and DP have fixed this bug.

Jozsef if you intend to fix this please keep in mind that the fix has to be designed in a way that it does not change the conditions of the map if you want the engine to be ok for SDA.

It would not be acceptable to just circumvent the bug whatever it is, allowing the player to shoot only one of the buttons on e2m2 even on easy skill.

A better solution could be to gracefully disconnect from the server rather than crashing the entire engine.

yea I already fixed the bug in my currently developed version.
But don't worry Mandel, I've done it exactly what you suggested. When the trigger is touched, it generates a Host_Error() and disconnects from the server instead of crashing the game.

Note: this crash only occurs on easy skill shooting only one of the two buttons. It's a bug in the map e2m2.

Ah, okay.. So this is a known problem after all.. I guess i'll have to play on normal skill from now on.. :D

you can play on skill 0, just shoot both buttons.
